Lisbon, Portugal (in-person event) • August 3–5, 2026
Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience are topics of utmost importance these days, as we live in an increasingly connected world with growing dependence on computing systems for everything. In principle, there are many foundational security mechanisms that can be utilized to achieve strong security properties while designing secure systems. However, despite the widespread availability and continuous advancement of cybersecurity technologies, still a lot of cyber security incidents happen. It is important to note, though, that these incidents are sometimes not caused by flaws in the available technologies but rather come from using them wrongly or not at all. If we want to establish basic security measures, e.g. digital signatures or multi-factor authentication, as cornerstones of modern digital systems, we need to find out what reasons are behind not using them. Is it a lack of awareness, are systems too complicated to use, or is there another reason? With this workshop we want to put a special focus on the human factor for Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience, because even the best technology will not work according to plan if it is not or not correctly used.
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit previously unpublished contributions from a broad range of topics, which include but are not limited to the following:
› Adoption of Security Measures
› Security-related Mental Models
› Organizational Culture
› Adoption Barriers for Security Measures
› Increasing Awareness for Security Issues
› Human-centered Design of Secure Systems
› Usable Security
› Technology Refusal
› User Friction
› User Compliance
