Summary:
The expansion of 5G networks increases attack surfaces due to their software-defined and virtualized architecture. Existing security frameworks are not fully equipped for real-time risk assessment in dynamic 5G environments, leaving networks vulnerable to evolving threats. This paper, developed within the European SAND5G project, integrates Snort intrusion detection with a risk assessment framework to dynamically evaluate threats and their impact on 5G infrastructure. Our solution processes intrusion alerts in real-time, correlating them with risk metrics to assess severity and guide mitigation strategies. Preliminary findings indicate improved threat detection accuracy and enhanced incident response, reinforcing cybersecurity in next-generation networks.Author(s):
