Summary:
This paper presents a novel approach to integrating Self-Sovereign Identity into legacy IAM systems with minimal modifications. While decentralized identity solutions offer enhanced security and privacy, existing IAM frameworks rely on centralized models such as OIDC and SAML. To bridge this gap, we propose a middleware-based authentication model using verifiable credentials. Our approach ensures interoperability without requiring significant infrastructure changes, allowing organizations to adopt SSI gradually. We evaluate the model’s performance, demonstrating scalability and security benefits. The proposed solution enables a seamless transition to decentralized identity, supporting broader adoption while preserving legacy IAM workflows.Author(s):
