Summary:
Audio deepfake has emerged as a powerful tool with the potential to revolutionise various fields, including virtual assistants, gaming, entertainment, education, audiobook production, and accessibility solutions. However, it also presents significant security issues and ethical concerns. The main challenge of this new technology lies in the realistic and convincing nature of the generated audio clips, which can deceive humans and traditional security techniques. Furthermore, the widespread availability of open-source deepfake tools and increasing computational power contribute to the ease with which malicious actors can create and disseminate audio deepfakes. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of current methods for audio deepfake generation, exploring both their legitimate applications and the potential for misuse. It also discusses some promising future directions for research in this field.Author(s):
