2025 IEEE International Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience

Full Program

Summary:

Automobiles are now more susceptible to cyber threats due to the integration of advanced electronic systems. United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) WP.29 R160 regulation requires Event Data Recorders (EDRs) for post-crash investigations, while UNECE WP.29 R155 regulation emphasizes automotive cybersecurity through continuous threat monitoring and management. However, these two systems function separately. This study introduces a novel idea that unifies these two regulations, an integrated framework that can record both digital and physical events during an incident. This integration seeks to help post-incident analysis that distinguishes between anomalies and cyberattacks. The proposal establishes the framework for future prototyping and standardization while outlining reasoning, essential elements, advantages, and anticipated challenges.
